Abstract

The research aims to analyze the reality of spatial distribution of intermediate industrial activities, identify its importance at the level of Iraqi governorates, analyze the spatial patterns of regional variation and its characteristics in industrial settlement and diversity, as well as measure and analyze the impact of production factors on labor productivity in them.

The research problem is represented by the presence of a defect in the structure of the Iraqi industrial sector due to the lack of a medium-sized industrial sector that is consistent with the sizes of small industrial projects and large industries within the Iraqi industrial structure. And its low participation in the local industrial output, which had repercussions on the whole industrial sector.

The research found that there is a variation in the rates of industrial settlement in the governorates of the study area, and an unequal spatial distribution in the number of industrial establishments for the branches of activities and in the workforce that it employs, and a variation in the degree of industrial diversity of activities for each governorate, as these industries are concentrated in Baghdad and Diyala to the extent In the Kirkuk and Basra governorates, employee wages are among the most influencing factors in production productivity.

The study recommended that investment in medium industrial projects is encouraged and the development of this important sector, whether by overcoming obstacles or controlling production quality or increasing production capacity or supporting the ability of these industries to compete with foreign counterparts, whose products require local raw materials, using technology technologies to raise efficiency To improve the level and quality of production, to benefit from the experience of medium-scale industrial endemic activities industrially and to generalize them to other governorates, especially in Salah al-Din and Wasit Governorate.
