Abstract

Adding sludge to the soil increases the ability of the soil to retain water when the levels of addition increase, especially in sandy soils, and this is due to the role of the decomposition products of these residues in linking the initial soil particles together, improving its construction, increasing its porosity and its aeration. The study concluded with many results. Perhaps the most important of them are:

The decomposition of organic excreta by means of soil regeneration is rapid and energetic, and it leads to a decrease in the bulk density of soft-textured soils, improvement of permeability, increased stability of aggregates, the ability of the soil to retain water, and improvement of soil construction.

The total evaporation rate gradually decreases with the increase in the addition of higher levels of sludge, which confirms the ability of the soil to retain water by increasing the levels of added sludge, thus improving the soil water properties
