تعد قضية السرقة الأدبية من أهم موضوعات النقد، فقد أولى النقاد لها الكثير من الاهتمام، ولكن هذا الاهتمام لم يكن عادلاً في كثير من الأحيان، فقد دخلت فيها العواطف والمشاعر واستخدمت لتنزيل مكانة الشعراء أو لكي يظهر الناقد قدرته في العثور على أشعار مماثلة. نوقشت هذه المسألة في الأدب العربي منذ العصر الجاهلي وكانت من أهم القضايا منذ بداية القرن الثالث الهجري. سعى الشريف المرتضى (436-355) بصفته شاعراً وعالم دين شهيراً لإظهار مكانته كناقد بارز. يُظهر الشريف المرتضى، باتباع المعاني المشتركة التي يقتبسها الشعراء عن بعضهم البعض، قوته في نقد وتحديد محاسن الشاعر أو عيوبه. تعامل الشريف المرتضى مع قضية سرقة الشعر بطريقة مختلفة عن النقاد السابقين، واعتبر السرقة خاصة بالمعاني المبتكرة وليس المعاني المشتركة. لم يستخدم كلمة السرقة عند الحديث عن السرقة الأدبية. نفى الشريف المرتضى السرقة في اللفظ والمعنى في أغلب الأحوال. تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى تقصي حالة السرقة الأدبية من منظور الشريف مرتضى. تم إجراء هذا البحث بمنهج الدراسة المكتبية وتدوين الملاحظات والتصنيف والمقارنة والوصف والتحليل.
