However, there is a clear absence of Iraqi universities for those ranking except Baghdad University, which entered THE of the 2019 version for the first time. Unfortunately, the results of THE ranking show that Baghdad University holds low position within the ranking.  This study aimed to examine the strengths and the weaknesses of the performance of Baghdad University in 2019 Times Higher Education University Ranking (THE). Utilizing both the content analyses and benchmarking methods, the researcher examined the performance of Baghdad University based on the five standards of THE. The results of this study showed that there were some important strengths and weaknesses of the performance in THE 2019. To overcome the weakness and to enhance the strengths of Baghdad University performance, the study provided recommendations for the administrators of Baghdad University to improve their university performance in the next version of THE ranking.
