Alustath Journal for Human and Social Sciences is an international, double-blind peer-reviewed, Open Access journal dedicated to the advancement and global dissemination of high-quality theoretical and applied research. Published quarterly by the College of Education (Ibn Rushd) for Human Sciences at the University of Baghdad, the journal has served as a flagship scholarly platform in the Arab world since its founding in 1952.
The journal's core mission is to develop and enrich scientific thought by providing a premier academic platform for regional and international scholars to share novel findings, diverse perspectives, and methodological advancements across the human and social science disciplines. The journal publishes original research in both Arabic and English, actively fostering cross-cultural academic dialogue and ensuring maximum global accessibility.
All submitted manuscripts undergo rigorous double-anonymized peer review conducted by at least two independent international experts. The journal is fully committed to the Core Practices and ethical guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and operates in accordance with the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) recommendations on authorship and research integrity.
Journal History
Established in 1952, Alustath Journal for Human and Social Sciences holds a distinguished and uninterrupted publication heritage spanning more than seven decades. It serves as the official peer-reviewed journal of the College of Education (Ibn Rushd) for Human Sciences at the University of Baghdad, one of Iraq's oldest and most prestigious academic institutions. The journal transitioned to a quarterly publication schedule in 2019 (Volume 58) and adopted Open Access publishing with CC BY 4.0 licensing to maximise the global reach and impact of its published research.
Publishing Schedule and Frequency
Alustath Journal for Human and Social Sciences publishes four complete issues per year on a quarterly schedule. Issues are released in March, June, September, and December. This quarterly publication frequency was formally established in 2019, commencing with Volume 58. The editorial board is committed to strict adherence to this publication schedule to ensure consistent and timely dissemination of peer-reviewed research.

Publication Languages and Linguistic Standards
Alustath Journal for Human and Social Sciences accepts and publishes original scholarly research in both Arabic and English. To ensure global discoverability and compliance with international indexing database requirements, all manuscripts must adhere to the following linguistic standards:
- Bilingual Abstracts and Metadata: All submissions must include a structured abstract (maximum 200 words) in both English and Arabic. Each abstract must be preceded by the article title, author names, and institutional affiliations translated into the respective language.
- Reference Romanisation: All in-text citations and final reference lists must be presented in English using the Roman script (APA style). Arabic-language sources must be accompanied by either the official English translation of the title, or, where no official translation exists, an accurate transliteration into English letters.
- Linguistic Quality: Submissions are evaluated for grammatical accuracy and readability in both Arabic and English. Authors are strongly encouraged to have manuscripts professionally proofread prior to submission.
