Dates trade is an important economic resource for Iraq, which is considered one of the most important international suppliers of dates.The middle and southern Iraq provinces represent the main suppliers especially Basrah which comes in the frontier. They produce different types of dates such as Hillawi, Khadhrawi, Sayer and Zahdi. Dates trade witnessed hard circumstance the most prominent of which is the control of monopolistic companies at date prices in a way that aims at gaining the highest profitsat the producers’ expense. This led to frustrate the farmers which adversely affected the export. The dates society has made great efforts to address some problems during the late tears of the study, as they took it upon themselves to contract for the sale of dates deals directly and get rid of intermediary companies which have long burdened the farmers. It also took care of the means of dates manufacturing and refining it. The reconstruction council played an important role in reducing some of the problems that threatened the date trade in Iraq, especially floods and the spread of epidemics and work to combat them
